Storage West Harrow Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps taken by Storage West Harrow to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to uphold human rights, promote ethical conduct, and ensure that those who work with us are treated with dignity and respect.
Modern slavery includes slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, bonded labour, child labour, and human trafficking. Storage West Harrow is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to prevent these abuses.
Zero-Tolerance Approach
Storage West Harrow has a strict zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery and human trafficking. We will not knowingly engage with or support any organisation, supplier, or individual involved in such practices. Our management team is responsible for promoting this culture and ensuring that this commitment is embedded throughout our operations.
All colleagues, contractors, and suppliers are expected to comply with this policy. Any breach is treated as a serious matter and may result in the termination of contracts, business relationships, or employment, in addition to any legal consequences that may arise.
Our Operations and Supply Chain
Storage West Harrow provides storage-related services and works with a range of suppliers, including facilities management, maintenance contractors, equipment providers, cleaning services, and professional advisers. We recognise that risks related to modern slavery can arise at different stages of the supply chain, particularly where labour-intensive services and subcontracted work are involved.
We seek to work with suppliers that share our values, operate ethically, and comply with applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws. We are committed to continuous improvement in identifying, monitoring, and reducing risks of modern slavery across our supply chain.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
Storage West Harrow undertakes proportionate due diligence on new and existing suppliers. This may include assessing the nature of the goods or services supplied, the location of operations, labour practices, and the supplier’s own policies on modern slavery and human rights.
Where we identify higher-risk suppliers or sectors, we may apply enhanced checks, request supporting documentation, and require a written confirmation of compliance with our standards. We reserve the right to conduct supplier audits, either announced or unannounced, to verify compliance with contractual obligations relating to labour and human rights.
Should an audit or assessment indicate non-compliance, we will engage with the supplier to agree on corrective actions within a clear timeframe. If improvements are not made, or if severe issues are identified, Storage West Harrow may suspend or terminate the relationship.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing
Storage West Harrow encourages all employees, suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders to report any concerns about modern slavery or unethical labour practices connected to our business or supply chain.
Concerns can be raised in confidence through internal reporting channels, including escalation to line managers, senior management, or designated compliance contacts. Reports will be handled sensitively, investigated promptly, and treated seriously. No person raising a concern in good faith will suffer any form of retaliation or detrimental treatment as a result of speaking up.
Training and Awareness
We aim to raise awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff, particularly those involved in procurement, supplier management, and site operations. Training and guidance help colleagues understand the signs of modern slavery, how to respond to concerns, and the importance of complying with our zero-tolerance policy.
We also communicate our expectations to suppliers so they are aware of our standards and their obligations to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within their own operations and supply chains.
Monitoring, Governance and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery sits with senior management at Storage West Harrow. They review our policies, procedures, and risk assessments and consider opportunities for improvement.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least annually to ensure it remains accurate, effective, and reflective of our current operations and risk profile. As part of each review, we evaluate any reported incidents, audit findings, changes in legislation, and feedback from stakeholders. Where necessary, we update our procedures, training, and supplier requirements to strengthen our controls.
Storage West Harrow is committed to continual improvement in addressing modern slavery and human trafficking risks, and to working collaboratively with employees, suppliers, and other partners to promote fair, safe, and respectful working conditions for all.
